Our Commitment to Sustainability & Community Impact
The vibrant coral reefs, majestic manta rays, and unique marine life of Bali are not just our business; they are our passion and our responsibility. At Bali Diving Package, we believe that luxury travel must be a force for good. Our sustainability policy is woven into the fabric of our operations, ensuring that every dive we guide contributes positively to the preservation of Bali’s natural and cultural heritage. Our commitment is built on three pillars: Marine Conservation, Environmental Responsibility, and Community Empowerment.
Active Marine Conservation
We are more than passive observers; we are active participants in the protection of the underwater ecosystems we visit.
- Direct Conservation Funding: A percentage of the revenue from every Bali diving package sold is donated directly to our key conservation partners, the Coral Triangle Center (CTC) in Sanur and the Pemuteran Biorock Project.
- Guest Education: Every dive briefing includes comprehensive education on responsible diving practices, based on the Green Fins code of conduct. Our in-house marine biologist, Dr. Rina Novita, provides specialized briefings on respectful interaction with sensitive species like Mola Mola and manta rays.
- Data Contribution: We participate in citizen science programs, submitting manta ray identification photos to Manta Matcher and reporting coral health observations to Reef Check, contributing valuable data to global research efforts.
Environmental Responsibility in Operations
We continuously work to minimize our operational footprint on the environment.
- War on Plastic: We enforce a strict no-single-use-plastic policy on all our boats and tours. Guests are provided with reusable water bottles, and all our provisions are sourced with minimal packaging.
- Carbon Offsetting: We have partnered with a verified Indonesian carbon offset program to calculate and offset the carbon emissions from all our land transportation. We are working towards offsetting our boat fuel consumption by 2026.
- Responsible Sourcing: We source our supplies, from guest amenities to on-board meals, from local, sustainable, and organic providers wherever possible, reducing food miles and supporting the local economy.
- Waste Management: We practice responsible waste segregation and disposal, ensuring nothing is ever discharged into the ocean and that all waste is processed according to local regulations.
Community Empowerment
Sustainable tourism must benefit the local communities who are the traditional custodians of these environments.
- Local Employment and Development: Over 90% of our staff are from local Balinese communities. We invest heavily in their professional development, funding PADI Divemaster and Instructor courses for promising local talent to build careers, not just jobs.
- Supporting Local Enterprises: We partner directly with local businesses, from the family-owned ‘warungs’ (eateries) that provide our surface interval snacks in Tulamben to the traditional salt farmers in Amed. This ensures that tourism revenue flows directly into the local economy.
- Community Initiatives: Our team leads and participates in regular beach and underwater clean-ups in partnership with local village authorities (desa adat) in key operational areas like Amed and Nusa Penida.
Our commitment to sustainability is not a marketing slogan; it is a core operational principle guided by our editorial standards and our deep love for Bali. We believe the ultimate luxury is knowing that your incredible adventure is also helping to protect this paradise for generations to come.
